Thought I'd do a bit of research on-line and found out some interesting stuff about the Shinkansen (Bullet train line).
The Tōkaidō Shinkansen 東海道新幹線 runs between Tokyo and Osaka, a distance of 515km (about the same as London to Glasgow), with the fastest train (the Nozomi, pictured at the rear below) completing the journey in just 2hrs 25mins, which is also the exact running time of the movie, Memoirs of a Geisha...

Pro mmmmmmmm you sure it's km, cos I'm sure they're faster than that... maglev track! Super ultra mega futuristic! 120mph doesn't sound that fast to me!

Pro Well, I think that particular line is very busy, so they can probably go faster on other lines with fewer stops...
