Friday Five...
@ Friday, 09. Jan, 2009 – 12:24:07
1. Is it time to change the name of the "mobile phone" as they are now more than just a phone?
Perhaps, they call them 'Handys' here in Germany
2. Do you take your mobile phone on holiday with you?
Yes, I usually switch it off but keep it within reach in case of emergencies.3. If your phone runs out of battery life is it a mishap or the most worst thing that can happen... ever?!
Tis a mishap, unless you happen to know that there is a message on there telling you the precise location of your friends but you cannot access that message because the battery is out... and you have to make a one hour round trip back home to plug your phone in to read aformentioned message...4. If they're not playing the latest chart topper then it's some other electronic rubbish so is it wrong to say "I'll give you a ring!" when phones don't actually ring these days?
No.5. Complete this sentence "My mobile phone is..."
slightly irritating. -

Skype
@ Friday, 09. Jan, 2009 – 11:21:33
I have finally discovered the joys of Skype! Tis a wonderful thing if you're working abroad and need to chat to folks back in the UK, and it's completely free! Need to change the settings though as I keep getting unwanted requests!

Deutsch
@ Friday, 09. Jan, 2009 – 11:09:41
My efforts to learn this language, that I have never been bothered about before, began on Monday night. I've joined a complete beginners class at GLS on Kastanianallee in which there is just me and an Israeli guy called Roy. My teacher, Jeremias, is an amiable enough fellow, and a native which I'm pleased about. So far we have covered the alphabet, basic greetings and the verbs 'sein' und 'haben' and a couple more regular verbs. Being a swat, I have already completed mein hausaufgabe für näschte woche and I believe it is all correct
Sehr gut!

Emil

So, a little place called Emil's just off Friedrichstraße had the pleasure of a band of English-speakers' company last night. I bet they'd never seen such a busy Thursday night! Later on we moved to another interesting little bar called The Speakeasy where we played poker and drank beer until the wee hours. I managed to win 50 Euros so I am now planning to treat myself to something fun...
